Stabilisation/solidification of lead-contaminated soil by using ladle furnace slag and carbon dioxide

چکیده
Global sustainable development faces challenges in greenhouse gas emission, consumption of non-renewable resource and energy, waste landfilling, environmental pollution. Geotechnical engineering also similar challenges; for example, the use cement lime stabilisation/solidification (S/S) contaminated soil is associated with carbon dioxide (CO2) emission limestone energy. In this context, study introduces a S/S method by using an industrial waste, ladle furnace slag (LFS), gas, CO2, to replace common additives lead (Pb)-contaminated soil. LFS was first mixed Pb-contaminated soils then CO2 introduced into carbonation. The results showed that LFS-stabilised could achieve uptake up 18% mass. After carbonation, concentration leached Pb from reduced three orders magnitude than without demonstrating higher efficacy cement, lime, magnesia. Additionally, can improve strength, as well reduce consumption, energy use, additive cost.

Chromium stabilization of tannery sludge by co-treatment with ladle furnace slag
Hazardous solid wastes may pose a serious risk to human health and to the environment, if not managed appropriately and disposed of safely. In this study, the effective stabilization of tannery sludge, a toxic industrial solid waste produced from the physico-chemical treatment of tannery wastewaters, was examined by the addition of ladle furnace slag (LFS), another industrial solid waste. متن کاملSoil Stabilisation Using Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
Stabilisation is a broad sense for the various methods employed and modifying the properties of a soil to improve its engineering performance and used for a variety of engineering works. In today‟s day soil stabilisation is the major problem for civil engineers, either for construction of road and also for increasing the strength or stability of soil and reduces the construction cost. In this t...
متن کاملMechanical and leaching behaviour of slag-cement and lime-activated slag stabilised/solidified contaminated soil.
Stabilisation/solidification (S/S) is an effective technique for reducing the leachability of contaminants in soils. Very few studies have investigated the use of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) for S/S treatment of contaminated soils, although it has been shown to be effective in ground improvement. This study sought to investigate the potential of GGBS activated by cement and lime...
متن کاملSolidification/Stabilization of Lead Contaminated Soil Using Magnesia Phosphate cement and Ordinary Portland cement
Background and objectives: Solidification/stabilization is an effective technique for reducing the leachability of contaminants in soils. Magnesia phosphate cement and ordinary Portland cement can be used to remediate soils contaminated. In this study, the performance of the solidified/stabilized soil was compared for mixtures composed of magnesia phosphate and ordinary Portland cement. Materia...
